Snowboarding till Sunday!

I don't snowboard, but Troy sure does.

I have tried about a half dozen times, and I've taken 2 private lessons. I'm pretty terrible, and I don't care enough to try hard. I have decided that I'm not spending my precious energy trying to snowboard anymore.
Plus, my whole balance thing isn't always 100% when I'm on the flat prairie of Saskatchewan, never mind trying to slide down a snowy mountain, with any amount of skill & grace.
I spend a lot of time on my butt.

I haven't tried snowboarding since my brain injury.
But . . . I have zero interest in knowing how to snowboard. I would rather chill out in the condo, read, and go for a walk. So, that is what I will be doing. My friend, Katie, also does not snowboard. We will be chilling together.

We leave Wednesday morning. Back for Sunday night.
I will not be blogging after today, till Monday.
I will blog about how it all went.

We have the dogs booked in at K-Lane Kennels

             They love it there!

And Mallory is watching the Mannipuss for us.

Oh!
We're going to Fernie, British Columbia!
Just realized you may not have known where we were going . . .
The Heartland Hideaway
We're staying in a condo that sleeps 14. Fourteen of us will be there.
It has a washer & dryer for laundry, a full kitchen, a private hot tub, 5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a dishwasher, a gas fireplace, a barbecue, a ping pong table, and walking distance to the lifts
-it's gonna be
swank!
Our group is sort of a mish mash of different social groups(friends bringing friends/cousins, etc), but it's going to be great! I think everyone will get along really well! We packed a lot of board games(we LOVE board games!)

Katie and I are the vegans of the group(which, is actually a high percentage(over 14%), considering vegans make up 2.5% of Americans).
Troy and Riley eat mostly plants. They've said they have intentions of eating vegan for this trip. The four of us made a vegan meal plan.
Katie typed it up, and emailed everyone, and people replied to say which meals they wanted to be included in. We said if they want meat or cheese or eggs, it's up to them to plan and cook that 'food'.
I did want to say, I find it rather amusing that it's usually the vegans that get left out of meals for social events, the vegan option is often an afterthought. But because Katie and I took over our own meal planning right away, it seems like the animal eaters are getting 'left out'.
We've spent the last few days preparing dishes to take.
I'm really excited! I even typed up the recipes, referenced where they're from, and printed a couple copies so everyone can see
exactly what we're eating.
The recipe packet has the recipe of everything we're taking. We made:
  • Chocolate Almond Brittle
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins
  • Pancakes
  • Barbecued Ribz
  • Rough Rider BBQ Sauce
  • Chickpea Cutlets
  • Creamy Tomato Soup
  • Carrot-Ginger Soup
  • Raspberry Coconut Cookies
  • Focaccia Buns
  • Garlic & Greens Soup
Gonna be delicious!
